Meet Payal Sahni, PT, MPT, DPT

Physical Therapist • Osteoporosis & Bone Health Specialist • Educator

We are delighted to welcome Payal Sahni, PT, MPT, DPT to the Willow Tree Yoga community.

Payal brings an extraordinary depth of knowledge and experience to her work in movement, wellness, healthy aging and bone health. A licensed physical therapist with more than 20 years of experience in orthopedic rehabilitation, she has devoted much of her career to helping people move better, stay stronger, prevent injury and maintain their independence throughout life.

Payal's particular area of expertise is osteoporosis and bone health. She previously served as Director of the New York State Osteoporosis Prevention and Education Program (NYSOPEP), the statewide program headquartered at Helen Hayes Hospital, where she led professional and community education initiatives focused on osteoporosis prevention, education, exercise and wellness.

Her work extends well beyond the clinical setting. Payal has educated healthcare professionals as well as the public about bone health, safe and effective exercise, posture, body mechanics, balance, fall prevention and healthy lifestyle choices. She has also been involved in professional education and continuing education for healthcare providers.

Payal is also a published researcher. Her work has appeared in HSS Journal: The Musculoskeletal Journal of Hospital for Special Surgery, including research examining rehabilitation and exercise for individuals affected by osteoporosis and vertebral fractures.

Why this matters at Willow Tree Yoga

At Willow Tree Yoga, we believe yoga should be more than simply a workout. It should help us live more comfortably, confidently and fully in the bodies we have today.

That becomes especially important as we age.

Payal brings something very special to our community: the perspective of an experienced physical therapist combined with deep expertise in movement, strength, balance, bone health and healthy aging.

Her approach is evidence-based, practical and compassionate, with an emphasis on helping people understand why we move the way we do — not simply telling us what to do.

Whether you are living with osteoporosis or osteopenia, concerned about maintaining bone strength, interested in improving balance and stability, recovering from an injury, or simply want to keep your body strong and capable as you age, Payal's expertise offers an invaluable perspective.

We are thrilled to have her sharing that knowledge with the Willow Tree Yoga family.

Welcome, Payal! We are so lucky to have you. 💚
